Jason McAteer

Jason McAteer

Jason McAteer is a retired professional footballer who represented five clubs during his career - Bolton, Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Tranmere Rovers. He also played at international level gaining a total of fifty two caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Born in 1971 in Birkenhead, Jason showed promise from an early age. His big break came in 1991 when, at the age of twenty, he was spotted by scouts for Bolton Wanderers. He stayed with Bolton until 1995 enjoying what was a considerably successful period of time for the team.

In 1995 he signed for Liverpool (his childhood heroes) in a £4.5 million transfer. He played in more than one hundred matches for the reds scoring six goals in the process. Jason brought a breath of fresh air to the team and he was a regular player between the years of 1995 and 1997.

He was sold in 1999 to Blackburn for a fee of £4 million and played a part in their promotion to the Premier League in 2001.

Jason now works in media and has also been involved in charity work. In 2005 he helped organise tsunami soccer aid which raised over half a million pounds.

Jason McAteer is also an after dinner speaker and is available for after dinner speaking all over the United Kingdom. To book Jason call AJ Promotions on 01704 834493 or 07799720483.
