0Chris Kamara

Born in 1957 in Middlesbrough, Chris Kamara is a retired English footballer and manager. Known as Kammy, he played as defender/midfielder during his career which lasted for twenty years. He played for eight clubs (Portsmouth, Swindon Town, Brentford, Stoke City, Leeds United, Luton Town, Sheffield United and Bradford City), never staying in one place for a long period of time. He is now a popular broadcaster and football pundit working in television.

Chris joined the Royal Navy as a young lad and played in the football team. During a match against the Portsmouth youth team his talent was spotted and he was subsequently signed by the club. The rest, as they say, is history!

During his twenty year footballing career, Chris was recognised for his tough tackles and became known to be a bit of a hard man. His drive, tenacity and love for the sport also meant that he gained cult status and many fans as a result.

He spent two years at Portsmouth and played in more than sixty games. In 1977 he left Fratton Park to join Bobby Smith's Swindon Town. Chris played with the Robins for four seasons before moving back to Portsmouth for a brief spell. He then moved on to Brentford where he stayed until 1985. This was followed by a return to Swindon Town, a move to Stoke City and then another move - this time to Leeds United. Chris helped Leeds win the Second Division title (one of the highlights of his career), but he went on to leave the club in shortly afterwards.

Chris Kamara managed two clubs - Stoke City and Bradford City. He became the manager of Bradford City in 1995 and saw them promoted to the First Division in 1996. This was almost certainly one of the finest moments in the history of the club and as a result he is held in high regard at Valley Parade.

In recent years he has worked as a football pundit and commentator and his fun loving approach to life has earned him many fans. He has endeared himself to the public with his light hearted approach. Chris began commentating in 1996 and he is now a well loved football pundit on both television and radio. He is known for his excitable reporting style and as a result has earned himself a whole new fanbase. He presents the Sky Sports 'Goal on Sunday' programme and in also commentates for some of Sky's televised matches. Chris features on Soccer AM most Saturday mornings. The popular slot entitled 'Kammy Do It' sees him taking part in varying challenges where he is put up against other sports professionals or celebrities.
